Shabbat August 29, 2026
/Shabbat Shalom,
Have you ever thought about what kind of aroma you carry? I’m not necessarily talking about our body odor (although that may be a problem!), but I’m taking about a Spiritual aroma. The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians, “But thanks be to God, who in Messiah always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us reveals everywhere the aroma of the knowledge of Himself” (v.14). Have you ever walked into a room and there was a wonderful smell that effected the whole atmosphere? Or, on the other hand, we walk into a room and smell the scent of death? As lovers of God, we are to carry the very aroma of God wherever we go. When we bring a word of encouragement or share a Bible verse with someone, or pray for their healing we are carrying the very aroma of Yeshua! So, bring a sweet smell of the Lord in whatever place we are today!
Come out to Or Chaim this Shabbat, August 29th, and let’s take in the sweet aroma of Yeshua together as a community! We meet at 16800 W.9th Ave Golden, 80401 and we begin at 11am. This week we will be continuing our walk through Paul’s letter to the Galatians, and we will discover that there may be “snakes” on our Spiritual journey that we have to be aware of. That was true in the early days of Messiah’s community and it is true today. I was having coffee with a friend the other day and we both agreed that the body of Messiah needs true discernment and genuine repentance before we can experience true revival. Knowing God’s Word and His ways and staying in sweet fellowship with Him and His community are keys to walking in discernment and avoiding the snakes!
We will NOT be having our regular Oneg tomorrow after service! We will be gathering at the Westendorf’s farm for our summer Havdalah at 4pm. It will be a great time of fellowship, worship and wonderful food as we celebrate together the end of the Shabbat! Bring a main dish or a side or dessert, as we will be having a Mexican themed meal. The Westendorf’s address is 1029 Bonnie Lane, Watkins 80137, and all are welcome! Bring a camping chair as we will probably be outside if the weather cooperates.
The Fall Feasts are coming up in just a few short week! The Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah; Rosh HaShana) will be on Friday eveningSeptember 11th. We will be entering the Kingdom calendar date of 5787, so stay tuned for more details!
