Shabbat August 22, 2026
/Shalom!
There is an old classic song written by George Gershwin (a good Jewish boy!) for the Broadway version of Porgy and Bess with the line "Summertime and the livin’ is easy …”. Of course when we were kids, summer was a time of fun, riding our bikes till late at night, campouts and BBQ’s and we never wanted it to end! In ancient Israel, summer was a time of working in the fields under the hot sun, getting ready for the harvest coming up. It is also the month of Elul when we are searching our hearts and asking Holy Spirit to show us areas we need to come into alignment with Him, in preparation for the Fall Feasts of The Lord. It is what I love about the Mo’adim (appointed times); God sets a time in His calendar that is all about His people gathering together to meet with Him! In these summer days, make a point of setting aside time to be in His Presence, reading His Word, and listening to what He is saying to you. He still speaks to His children!
We are so looking forward to coming together this Shabbat August 22nd to be with The King! Our address is 16800 W.9th Ave Golden, 80401 and we meet at 11am. I am sensing from the Lord to begin a series on Paul’s letter to the Galatians. He addresses some important issues that had entered into the churches there, and encourages the Believers there (Jews and Gentiles) to come back to the Good News that brings real freedom! I am looking forward to this series so, bring your Bible (or phone if that is what you use) and let’s dig in together. WE WILL HAVE A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH TO SHARE AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP.
Next week, August 29th, we will be having our summer Havdalah (“separation”) when we close out Shabbat and prepare for the week ahead. It has been a long time since we have had one so come on out and enjoy the sweet fellowship, worship, food, and the presence of Yeshua as we end the Shabbat! We will be meeting at Tom and Mary Westendorf’s farm, 1029 Bonnie Lane Watkins, 80137. We will NOT have Oneg that day, so we can start gathering at the farm at about 4pm. Mary will send out something this week talking about food and such. I encourage you all to come out as these are great times together! Also as a reminder, we will be celebrating Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets) on Friday evening, September 11th at The Dwelling Place! We will begin our service at 6pm that evening, AND WE WILL NOT HAVE OUR NORMAL SHABBAT SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 12!
You can give your First Fruits and other donations by going to www.or-chaim.com or mailing a check to Or Chaim, 1658 Deer Creek Rd, Monument CO 80132
