Shabbat Shalom June 6, 2026
/Shabbat Shalom!,
As some of you know, I am quite an amateur World War II history buff, maybe because my Mom and Dad were part of that “Greatest Generation”, and Dad fought in the South Pacific. June 6th (this Shabbat) of course is the 82nd anniversary of D Day, when allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy which led to the defeat of nazi Germany. I had an opportunity to visit Normandy several years ago and meet some of the survivors of that day, heard their personal stories, saw the beaches and the cemeteries and am forever thankful for their sacrifices! It seems like we are a different nation today and I often wonder if we have it in us to do what they did back then. President Reagan famously said “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction”, and he said that at Omaha Beach. We need a revival of prayer and faith as we have never needed before in this nation! Also, we need leaders in Government and in our Congregations and Churches that will stand up boldly for God’s purposes in this world, especially concerning His heart for Israel. This is my concern: that we cannot give away or negotiate or compromise, the Land or the people of Israel, for the sake of a false “peace” with the enemies of Israel and God! I keep on coming back to Isaiah 62, On your walls, Jerusalem, I have set watchmen … You who remind adonai, take no rest for yourselves , And give Him no rest until HE MAKES JERUSALEM A PRAISE IN THE EARTH.”
Come out to Or Chaim this Shabbat and worship our wonderful King and Messiah with us! We meet at 16800 W. 9th Ave Golden, 80401, and we begin at 11am. I will be continuing on the theme of THE AUTHORITY AND POWER OF GOD’S WORD, with a message on THE EFFECTS OF HIS WORD IN OUR LIVES. As we have been studying the incredible importance of Covenant, it is crucial that we look at the very promises of God that we find in His Word! We don’t have the luxury in these dark days to ignore or be ignorant about what He says in the Bible. We will have an Oneg following the service, so please bring a dish to share and stay for fellowship! Wonderful conversations take place during this time, and relationships are deepened.
With the arrival of summer, many of us have plans to travel or go camping and hiking, and that is awesome. But, if you are in town, come and celebrate Shabbat with us and bring your friends and neighbors, it is so important! Also, if you have prayer needs, please let Mary Westendorf know, as she compiles and sends out our prayer list and there are many testimonies of healings and breakthroughs!
