Chag Sameach Shavuot May 23rd Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat Shalom!

Actually, we welcome folks at this time of the year with CHAG SHAVUOT SAMEACH! We are in the Feast of Shavuot (Pentecost), when we celebrate 50 days since Pesach, when God gave the Torah to the Israelites at Mt. Sinai, and the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) was imparted to the disciples in Jerusalem. This is a very significant time in the Kingdom calendar, as it commemorates two of the most important events in Biblical history. In both instances, The Holy One interacts with His people by giving us a whole new way to live! With Torah, He calls Israel a “Kingdom of kohanim and a holy nation”, separated from the rest of the nations with a covenantal charge to be His representatives in the world. With the impartation of Ruach HaKodesh, we are now empowered by His indwelling Presence to be His witnesses not only in Jerusalem and Judea, but to the ends of the earth! It is the time of the early harvest in Israel, a time of rejoicing as the people make Aliyah to Jerusalem to bring the first fruits of the land and thank God for His blessings. Even in modern Israel, it is a time when the entire Messianic community comes together in worship and thanksgiving to the Holy One, and enjoy fellowship with one another! So, come on out to Or Chaim this Shabbat and celebrate with us!

We gather at 11am and our address is 16800 W.9th Ave Golden, 800401, and all are welcome to join us! This will be a special Shabbat, as we thank God for His Holy Word, Torah, in a very fun way, so be prepared to participate! Also, we will be having a very special production of the Book of Ruth, as it is traditional to read this book in it’s entirety at Shavuot, but we will be doing it in a unique way! If you have never celebrated this holiday before, it will be very enjoyable, so invite your neighbors, friends and families to join us. After our service we will be having our Oneg, and it is traditional (using that word a lot today!) to enjoy dairy products for this occasion. Why, you ask? Many reasons, here are a few. In Song of Songs 4:11, Torah is compared with “milk and honey under your tongue”, and also at Sinai, there wasn’t time to prepare kosher meat properly before the festival meal. The Promised Land is a land flowing with milk and honey! Also, Torah is spiritual milk, nourishing and life-giving! So, what are some traditional foods to eat? Blintzes, cheesecake, cheese kreplach, noodle kugel, cheese-filled patties, Quiche, and all kinds of savory cheeses! You can also bring fish or ANY dish that is Biblically appropriate.

So, come on out to Or Chaim, it will be a very fun and unique experience! Also, men, be prepared to dance!
