Shavuot Shabbat 5/31/2025
/Shabbat Shalom!
As we come to the close of the season of the Counting of the Omer, we look forward to the Feast of Shavuot! The 7 weeks between our liberation from Egypt (the world and our sin) and Shavuot (when we celebrate the giving of Torah and the impartation of Ruach HaKodesh) is for many of us a time of Spiritual refinement and preparation to receive God’s revelation. You see, not only do we need liberation from what holds us in bondage, we need the Gift of Torah and His Spirit to walk as Covenant people! We also see in the season a connection between agricultural harvest and God being our provision for everything we need! As I shared last week, it has also been a difficult time for many, the loss of dear friends, the pain and suffering of our friends in Israel, and the hatred and division we are witnessing all around us. However we of all people are a people of HOPE, as we read in so many Scriptures and as the psalmist proclaimed, “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.” Ps.42:5
I want to encourage you to come out to Or Chaim Congregation this Shabbat, May 31st, as we celebrate the FEAST OF SHAVUOT! We are meeting at The Dwelling Place, 16800 W.9th Ave Golden, 80401, and we meet at 11am. It has become our tradition to celebrate with a special presentation of THE BOOK OF RUTH, a beautiful story of God’s love, provision and extraordinary grace. Hear the incredible story, special music and experience traditional Jewish dance in this wonderful story of redemption! All are welcome and we encourage you to invite some friends! We will halve e a potluck Oneg following the service, SO BRING A DISH TO SHARE AND HANG AROUND FOR FELLOWSHIP!
We are currently planning a Celebration of Life for our dear sister Judith Williams, and we are looking at Saturday, June 28th, following our Shabbat service. We will share more details as we get closer such as location, times etc. Also remember that Or Chaim will be hosting Joshua Aaron in concert on Sunday, June 22nd at The Rock Church in Castle Rock! The address for the church is 4881 Cherokee Dr., Castle Rock 80109and the concert will begin at 6pm.
