Shabbat 11/25/2017

Shabbat Shalom!
We want to wish all of you a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving! Millie and I are enjoying an awesome cruise in the Caribbean, but are praying that all of you are doing well. We have much to be thankful for this year, and it is so easy sometimes to take things for granted, but it is so important to be intentional in our gratitude!

This Shabbat, November 25th, Aaron Rich will be sharing what The Lord has put on his heart. Come out and support him, and be blessed in what God is going to do. THERE WILL BE A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP!

Remember, Chanukah is right around the corner, and we will be celebrating the lighting of candles in family’s homes this year. We will be sending out dates, times, and locations of the various evening gatherings soon.

Millie and I look forward to seeing you soon! Be blessed and be thankful!
Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat 11/11/2017

Shabbat Shalom!

First of all, we want to say a big ‘Thank You’ to all of our veterans! Your service and patriotism is so appreciated by me and so many other Americans.

Millie and I have been in Phoenix for the last few days, as part of the Jewish  Voice Messianic Leadership Roundtable. Over 400 leaders from around the world gather every year for great teaching on 21st century leadership, re-connecting with old friends and making new and hearing what God is doing in various places. This year, the theme was “Transformational Leadership”,  taught by Ford Taylor. How do we become relational and transactional in a Biblical way, we learned a new word “Relactional”. A wonderful and fruitful time!

This Shabbat, November 11th, we will be continuing our teaching on Rav Shaul’s letter to the Romans. We will be looking at chapter 8, and how we can, and must, walk in this life with “NO CONDEMNATION!” You do not want to miss this incredibly important message!

WE WILL HAVE A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING OUR SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH TO SHARE AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP!

Next Shabbat, November 18th, we will be having a special guest with us, Messianic Pastor Alex Yalenga from Zambia, Africa. He is a wonderful man of God, truly a pioneer, starting congregations and orphanages that have blessed many. You will not want to miss this service! God’s presence has been powerful and He is touching lives in tangible ways. See you on Shabbat!

Blessings and Shabbat Shalom!

Church Shooting

Shalom Or Chaim Family,

Millie and I are in Phoenix for a Messianic Leadership Roundtable this week, and have just heard of the horrific shooting at a church in Texas. This is another terrible, demonic attack that has come upon this nation in the last several weeks. I am asking that all of us hold up in prayer the tiny town of Sutherland  Springs, Tx., especially for the families of this Baptist Church. As I reminded us yesterday, a spirit of violence has been unleashed on this nation and this is a vivid example of the carnage that this spirit causes. Today is our day of prayer for the 1Church initiative, so please include this tragedy as you bring petitions before The Lord. Remember what our Heavenly Father said to us yesterday, “the victory is stronger than the darkness.” The darker things get in this world, the greater the light of Yeshua must shine!

Blessings and Shalom,

Stewart and Millie

Shabbat 11/4/2017

SHABBAT SHALOM! I am convinced that LIGHT dispels the darkness and the current battle has already been won in great victory! God’s Word will not return void but fulfill its purpose. Several months ago I (Stew) sensed that an ugly, violent spirit had been unleashed on our nation. This week we witnessed an Islamist terrorist mow down innocent  people on a bike path in New York City, and a man randomly shoot 3 people apparently for no reason in a Walmart in Thornton CO. Unexplained random violence occurs all the time unfortunately, however, this spirit unleashed has an unholy agenda of keeping people more divided than ever, bringing a cloud of fear, distrust, and hatred that has the potential to boil over into every aspect of our society. As a child of the 60’s, I know this does not end well! Yeshua’s prophetic words in Mt. 23-25, are coming to pass in these days, I am not fearful, I am passionate in saying to anyone who reads this, “the sound of the Shofar is being heard, are we listening?”

This Shabbat, November 4th, I will be continuing our study of the book of Romans, as we look at “WINNING THE WAR WITHIN”, focusing on chapter 7:7-25. This powerful passage teaches how to walk in victory KNOWING our position IN MESSIAH, free of condemnation!

We will be having a potluck Oneg following the service, so bring a dish and stay for fellowship!

The time of Torah Study before our  Shabbat Service has been awesome! Aaron Rich has been leading this time of Midrash, at 9am, downstairs in the fellowship room. This week’s Parsha is “Vayera” (He appeared), Gen. 18:1-22:24. Bring your bible, and a heart to learn the foundations of our faith!

Spend time this week praying for The folks in our congregation, that they would grasp the destiny God prepared for them, that healing would be released, and bondages broken! This Sunday, is our day to pray as part of the wall of the 1Church Initiative, starting at 6pm. Also, don’t forget to TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK this Saturday night!

Blessings and Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat 10/28/2017

SHABBAT SHALOM!

This is NOT “fake news”, Shabbat is coming and it is going to be good! First of all, Millie and I want to thank all of you for the wonderful words of blessing as we celebrated our Anniversary on Wednesday. We are ready for another 42 years! I have been thinking about something this week, as we have heard the sound of the Shofar through the Fall feasts and as we hear it on Shabbat, what does it awaken in you? Is it just some foreign, traditional Jewish thing we do to start a service, or does it awaken something in you? For me, it awakens me to His presence, it also awakens in me the reality that we are in a battle and that The King is going before us in this battle and it belongs to Him! Our job is to make sure our armor is on and that we are trusting whole-heartedly in the ability of our Commander to lead us through to victory!

This Shabbat, October 28th, we will be continuing our Romans series as we look at Rom.6:15-71-6 looking at how we walk in the “Newness of the Spirit”. This epistle is so key in us understanding and embracing not only our identity in Yeshua (Jesus) but also how important our choices are in regards to our actions. Also, we will be having our Torah study starting at 9am and  again at 1pm for those who are unable to make the morning class. This week’s Parsha is “LECH LECHA” (lit. “Go For You”), Gen.12:1-17:27, such an important passage as we look at the calling of Abram, and see our God as our loving, compassionate, covenant-keeping Father He is!

WE WILL HAVE A POTLUCK ONEG AFTER OUR SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP!

Come and enjoy Shabbat with Or Chaim! We all need family (Mishpacha) during these challenging and stressful times that provides opportunity for us to shine! We look forward to seeing you!

Blessings and Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat 10/21/2017

SHABBAT SHALOM!

First of all, I want to thank all of you for blessing Millie and I last week during our service last week. We are honored to serve you and Or Chaim Congregation and we love all of you! We sense that God is getting ready to “break through” in powerful ways, not just in our congregation, but in your personal lives and the lives of your family. A word that keeps coming to me is PERSEVERANCE, which literally means ENDURANCE IN THE FACE OF TRIALS. For many of us this past season has been a time of trial and struggle, but He wants to encourage you with the words of Shaul of Tarsus (Paul), “and perseverance produces character, and character, hope. AND HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT”. Keep your eyes on Yeshua, He is watching over you!

This Shabbat, October 21st, we will have Ray and Kathryn Smith, of Art Of Worship Ministries, sharing with us during our morning service. They will bring to us their unique, and prophetic insight into What God is doing in these day. Also, we will be continuing the Torah Parsha study, that began last week, before service at 9am, downstairs in the fellowship room. This week’s Torah portion is Noach (Gen.6:9-11:32) if you want to read ahead. This is a great opportunity to read His word in an organized way, ask questions and discuss these important scriptures! For those who miss the Torah portion study in the morning, Aaron will be leading a time of reading at 1pm.

WE WILL HAVE A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH TO SHARE, AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP!

We so look forward to seeing all of you this Shabbat! Invite a friend and come with an expectation that GOD WILL DO FAR MORE ABUNDANTLY BEYOND ALL THAT WE CAN ASK OR THINK …!

Shabbat 10/14/2017

SHABBAT SHALOM!

What a wonderful season of Succoth! Between gathering in our “succah” with family and friends and enjoying fellowship and food we have experienced the first snow of the season, and Israel celebrated its first rain of the year after a severe drought! This event in itself is significant and a sign of God’s blessing for the upcoming year.

This shabbat, October 14th, we begin a new cycle of Torah reading for the year. In line with this, we are beginning a new thing at Or Chaim, starting at 9am, Aaron Rich will be leading a time of reading and discussing the Parsha of the week! This will be a great opportunity to grow in our understanding and application of “Ha Yesod” (the foundation) of our faith. This class will be meeting downstairs in the fellowship room.

Also this Shabbat, we will be continuing our study of the letter to the Romans by dealving into chapter 6, and discovering that Sin’s dominion has been broken! This portion of scripture has radically changed my life over the last 20 years, and is crucial in understanding our true position in Messiah. You do not want to miss this message! WE WILL BE HAVING A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING OUR SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH AND ENJOY THE FELLOWSHIP.

This Sunday, October 15th, at 6pm, Faith Bible Church in Arvada, will be hosting their annual “Israel Awareness Night”, with special guest Dennis Prager. Contact FBC for more information. God is doing awesome things in our midst, you don’t want to miss what He is doing! We look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Shabbat 9/30/2017

SHABBAT SHALOM!

We are in the midst of the most important days of the Kingdom Calendar. Last week, we welcomed Yom Teruah, the Day of Blowing the Shofar that ushers in the 10 Days of Awe culminating in Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement. It’s a season of opening our hearts to rid ourselves of sin, T’Shuva (turning from or repentance), and regathering as the people of God.

Join us this weekend for very special services, as we remember the incredible atonement that Yeshua brought us by the shedding of His blood. Friday, September 29th at 7pm we will gather at Or Chaim for a solemn assembly, our Yom Kippur Kol Nidre service. If you have never attended a Yom Kippur service, come and experience corporate confession, repentance, and blessing, as we recognize and remember God’s incredible grace that came about through His atonement. It is also the beginning of the biblically mandated feast, a fast day of humbling.

On Shabbat, September 30th, we will have our scheduled Torah and worship service at 10:30am as we continue to remember this special season. WE WILL NOT HAVE AN ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE AS WE OBSERVE THE FAST.

On Saturday evening, at 5pm, we will be gathering at the home of Larry and Joyce Larson for our closing of Yom Kippur activities. Their address is: 117 S. ROGERS WAY, GOLDEN, CO. After a short service and time of worship, we will join in the traditional BREAK FAST as we enjoy a potluck meal together fellowshipping with our Mishpacha! PLEASE BRING A DISH WITH ENOUGH TO SHARE with each other (DIETARY APPROPRIATE) AS WE CLOSE OUT THIS WONDERFUL DAY!

On Wednesday, October 4th at 6pm, we will celebrate Erev Succoth at the farm of Tom and Mary Westendorf in Watkins, Co. We will meet in a genuine “sukkah” (primitive hut) so bring some Fall foliage to decorate! ALSO, THIS IS A POTLUCK, SO BRING A FAVORITE DISH AND ENOUGH TO SHARE! Weather permitting we will have a wonderful time of worship around the sukkah, and enjoy this special gathering as the people of Israel were commanded to make Aliyah to Jerusalem on this day! Mary will be sending out directions to their farm. You don’t want to miss this special evening!

As you can see, this is a special season, as we celebrate these “Moadim” (appointed times) a wonderful time of remembering God’s faithfulness and looking forward to His soon return! Invite your friends and family to these special gatherings, and be ready to receive great Blessing!

Shabbat 9/23/2017

SHABBAT SHALOM AND SHANA TOVA!

What a great time we had on Wednesday, 9/20, as we welcomed the 10 Days of Awe with a wonderful Yom Teruah (Rosh HaShana) service at Or Chaim! We were reminded of the significance of the season, as we shared the incredible meaning of this day, and heard the sound of the shofar awakening us to His presence, and looking ahead to His soon return! We ended the evening with the traditional apples and honey, a promise of a sweet and fruitful New Year! What a special time of the year, as we ask God to search our hearts, repent from ways that are contrary to His purposes, remember His incredible forgiveness, and look forward with great anticipation to our eternal dwelling (Succah) with Him.

This Shabbat, 9/23 at 10:30am, we will open up our service for Midrash. Because of the significance of the season, we want to be able to discuss questions you may have in regards to the Feasts of The Lord and the New Covenant or you may have a question about a particular scripture. This is a great opportunity to ask the elders, or if we don’t know the answer (believe me, that is entirely possible!) someone in the congregation may have revelation! Be prepared to ask questions, this is the process the Rabbis would use with their disciples, and Yeshua would often “Midrash” by sharing a parable to make a greater point. We will end our service by taking the Lord’s Supper together. THERE WILL BE A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH, AND ENJOY THE FELLOWSHIP!

Dont forget, Or Chaim Congregation will be having a Yom Kippur Kol Nidre service next Friday, 9/29 at 7pm. We will have our regular Shabbat service on 9/30 but will not have an Oneg following the service as we will be observing the traditional fast. Join us on Saturday evening 9/30 at 5pm as we come together to break the fast at the home of Larry and Joyce Larson in Golden. It will be a wonderful evening as we close out Yom Kippur and break bread together!

On Erev Succoth, Wednesday 10/4 at 6pm we are invited to Tom and Mary Westendorf’s farm to enjoy an evening in a “Succah” sharing a potluck dinner. We will end the evening with worship and fellowship! They will be sending directions to their place in Watkins so come on out and invite your family and friends! as a matter of fact invite them to all the special services coming up!

Tonight begins the Biblical appointed time called YOM TERUAH (day of blowing the Shofar), also known as Rosh HaShana! Or Chaim Congregation will be having a special service tonight September 20th, at 7pm. YOU  DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS AWESOME TIME OF GATHERING TOGETHER, WELCOMING THE 10 DAYS OF AWE, AS WE LISTEN TO THE SHRILL SOUND OF THE SHOFAR CALLING TO GOD'S PEOPLE TO AWAKE, REPENT, AND PREPARE FOR HIS RETURN!
Invite your family and friends to this special evening, and bring your Shofar!!!

Shabbat 9/15/2017

Shabbat Shalom!

This Shabbat, September 16th, we will be continuing our series on Romans, as we we study chapter 4. The message is entitled "LIFE FROM THE DEAD", as we look at the life of Abraham, and how it has always been God's way that we walk by faith and not let circumstances determine our path! WE WILL BE HAVING A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE,  SO BRING A DISH AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP!

Next Shabbat 9/23, we will be having "Midrash" during our morning service. Because of the season, being in the middle of the 10 Days Of Awe, the subject will be "The Feasts of The Lord and the New Covenant". Be prepared with questions you may have, also, I encourage you to read Leviticus 23, which introduces the Moadim (appointed times) as well as other relevant scriptures. This is a great opportunity to ask questions of the elders and discuss these important "kingdom calendar" days and dialogue on how we are to experience them under the New Covenant! You might even wonder if it is appropriate to even keep these special days or are they done away with...or only for the Jews, etc. Come, let's reason together and search the scriptures!

Shabbat 9/9/2017

Shabbat Shalom!

Millie and I were blessed to attend the Chris Tomlin concert at Red Rocks the other night. What a fabulous time of worship to our God, along with 10,000 others! Also, it was a vivid picture of what it will be like when all the Saints of God, from every nation, will gather around HIS throne, gazing in awe upon the beauty of our God!

Last Shabbat, we prayed for the residents of Texas in the aftermath of Harvey. What an incredibly destructive storm! We prayed for the victims and had an had opportunity to give, in practical ways, towards their recovery. This week we are again transfixed by another monster storm, Hurricane Irma, getting ready to slam Florida. I am not one of those “doomsday prophets”, telling everyone that this is judgement upon America, but I am saying “Believer, keep your eyes on Yeshua, because He is our ROCK in times of trouble!” Pray! Encourage! Give! What an opportunity to be HIS hands and feet in the midst of natural disaster, and speak words of life and blessing to those impacted already and those who can potentially lose everything. Many of us have family and friends in the areas hit by these storms, let’s all keep them in prayer and ask the Lord how we can help!

Join us this Shabbat, September 9, as we gather to “Remember and Observe”, as God has commanded us to do on this Holy day. In our Torah service we read His words and proclaim His promises, and we worship the King of Kings, because HE IS WORTHY! Frank Sussler, board member of Tikkun America, and a Congregational leader from Milwaukee, Wi. will be joining us during the service. THERE WILL BE AN ONEG POTLUCK FOLLOWING THE SERVICE.

UPCOMING DATES FOR FALL FEASTS!

EREV ROSH HASHANA (YOM TERUAH): WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH, 7PM AT OR CHAIM CONGREGATION

EREV YOM KIPPUR (KOL NIDRE SERVICE): FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH, 7PM, AT OR CHAIM CONGREGATION

Donations for Texas

Shalom,

As we prayed yesterday at congregation for the people of South Texas, we also mentioned possibilities to practically help those who have lost so much. Sharee Morris mentioned that her company, Johnson Moving and Storage, is loading a 53 foot trailer to bring to the Houston area next week. If you have items that you would like to donate, we are trying to work out a central location to meet up, and load a pickup truck, to bring to Centennial. We will meet at 11am, in the southeast portion of the Home Depot parking lot, at Wadsworth and I70. PLEASE CALL OR TEXT ME AT: (720)300-8342, AND LET ME KNOW BY 8PM MONDAY, IF YOU WILL BE BRINGING DONATIONS.
Suggestions for items: bottled water, toilet paper and paper towels; baby wipes; diapers; baby formula; towels; under clothing; blankets; toiletries etc.
And remember, pray for the folks effected by the worst national disaster in recent history! Thank you, Father, for the opportunity to help those in need, and to be the hands and feet of Yeshua!
Blessings and Shalom!

Shabbat 9/2/2017

Shalom Mishpacha!

I am sure many of you have been transfixed this week watching the devastation wracking Houston and Southeast Texas. Like Millie and I, you were probably thinking "what can I do to help?" Well, we have a very practical way we can help immediately. Sharee Morris works for Johnson Moving and Storage, and they have a 53 foot tractor trailer heading to Houston next week. Some of the items being donated are: paper towels, toilet paper; cases of Gatorade; wet wipes, items such  as these. Please no glass or combustible material (like batteries). You can bring items to their facility at 7009 S. Jordan Rd. Centennial; They are closed Sunday and Monday, and open on Tuesday from 8am-5pm for deliveries. Also, if you are interested in sending money donations, reputable organizations such as Samaritans Purse, Jewish Voice, Messianic Jewish Bible Institute, and Baruch HaShem congregation in Dallas are working in the disaster areas. If you are not able to take donations to the warehouse, bring them on Shabbat and we will get them there. Keep Texas in your prayer!!!

This Shabbat, September 2nd (already?), we will be continuing our series on the book of Romans, finishing out chapter 3. Have you ever been so full of guilt and condemnation that you felt like you were drowning, and wondering where is God? This week we will learn how to live "Guilt Free!" Join us and invite someone who may be struggling in this area! We will have a potluck Oneg following the service, so bring a dish and stay for the fellowship!

Remember, our special Yom Teruah service will be Wednesday, September 20th at 7pm, and our Yom Kippur service is Friday, September 29th at 7pm.

See you on Shabbat!

Shabbat 8/26/2017

Shabbat Shalom!

We had a wonderful time last Shabbat, as the Ruach led us into an anointed time of intercession for our nation. We are now in the Hebrew month of Elul, traditionally a time of T'Shuva (turning or repentance), before the Fall High Holidays, it was appropriate that The Lord changed my plans to His. What a powerful time we had! So, this Shabbat, Lord willing, we will explore the Ministry of the Torah in our lives, as we continue to explore Paul's letter to the Romans.

Also, all are invited to the "Rocky Mountain Camp meeting", at Gateway On Mt. Zion this Friday-Sunday, August 25th-27th. The Saturday session does not begin till 3pm, so enjoy Shabbat, stay for our potluck Oneg, and join with the camp meeting! The prophetic speakers, including Jeff Collins, will be sharing about revival, and what is happening in our world today. There is no cost for this event.

I want to encourage you to come on up to the mountain on Shabbat, join with the 'Mishpacha', and worship the King!

Blessings and Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat 8/19/2017

Shabbat Shalom!

At the end of a week like this, we know why The Holy One made Shabbat! An exhortation to rest in Him, remember all the wonderful things He has done for us, and observe His awesome commandments. In a week where we have seen the ugliness of domestic terrorism and hatred in Charlottesville, to Islamic terrorism in Barcelona, we are seeing a world that is adrift in lawlessness and unparalleled division. It is clear, there is no hope, no peace, no answers, outside of a relationship with, and surrender to Yeshua, HaSar Shel Shalom (Jesus, the Prince of Peace!) Yeshua says in John 14, “My shalom I give to you, but not as the world gives! Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid”. The Torah portion this week is appropriate, ‘Re’eh’, which means basically ‘Behold’. to gaze intently from His perspective, beyond my earth-bound view of things. Be encouraged in Him, a solar eclipse is coming!

You don’t want to miss our Shabbat service this week, August 19th, at 10:30am! The presence of God has been powerful recently (actually, it usually is!), and we will be continuing our study of Rav Shaul’s (Paul's) letter to the Romans by looking at the wonderful “Ministry of The Torah”. As you can imagine, there is much mis-understanding regarding this subject, so come prepared to be challenged! WE WILL BE HAVING A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH AND ENJOY THE FELLOWSHIP!

After you view the solar eclipse taking place on Monday, August 21st, come and join us as we go to the 16th Street Mall, downtown, to bless, pray for people, and see God invade Denver! If you can make it, we meet at the fountain in front of Union Station at 7pm. See you there!

We so look forward to seeing everybody this Shabbat! Blessings and Shabbat Shalom!

Shabbat 8/12/2017

Shabbat shalom!

Well, we are in the middle of the Hebrew month of Av, which means Elul is just around the corner! Why am I reminding us about this? According to the “calendar of the kingdom”, Elul is the month of preparation of our hearts through repentance in readiness for the High Holy Days from Yom Teruah (Rosh Hashana) through Yom Kippur. Wow, hard to believe these special days are coming up so quickly! I love how The Holy One is so intentional about these special times of the year, and directs us to prepare for them, like a loving Father would do with a son looking forward to a Bar Mitzvah or a wedding. They are not just random days thrown haphazardly into some obscure, obsolete calendar! As we open our hearts, seeks right alignment with our heavenly Father, expect God to reveal more of Himself to you. Ask him, in preparation for the Fall Appointed Times, to show attitudes, behaviors, mindsets, and fears that are contrary to His Kingdom values and purposes, and trust Him for deliverance!

Because of our special guest last week, I will be starting a series on the epistle of Romans this Shabbat, August 12th. I am excited about what Father has been showing me in this dynamic and incredibly important book. Not only is it important, it is also one of the most misunderstood letters in the scriptures. We want to explore how Rav Shaul, a Torah observant  lawyer/Pharisee masterfully lays out the key doctrine of righteousness by faith. It’s not just another theology to stimulate the intellect, but it is dynamic and transforming! Our service begins at 10:30am, AND WE WILL BE HAVING A POTLUCK ONEG FOLLOWING THE SERVICE, SO BRING A DISH TO SHARE AND STAY FOR FELLOWSHIP!

Please, do put on your calendar that Yom Teruah begins on Wednesday evening, September 20th, and we will be having an Erev Yom Teruah service at Or Chaim (located at Gateway on Mt Zion) at 7pm. Our Yom Kippur Kol Nidre service will be Friday evening, September 29th, at 7pm, same location. We have our  mid-week Torah/Bible study on Wednesday evenings at Terry and Lynne McDowells’ home at 7pm. These are great times of study and Midrash and everyone is welcome!

Look forward to seeing you all this Shabbat!
